Extension version covered: 0.3.3
UTM Share is a browser extension developed by N-Shoke. It helps you add campaign parameters to links, copy them and reuse recent campaigns from your browser’s side panel.
UTM Share processes links on your device. It does not send your destination URLs, campaign settings or saved link history to N-Shoke or to an external processing service. No account is required.
This policy explains the information the extension accesses and stores. It covers the extension, not the separate websites, email services or advertising platforms you may use alongside it.
1. Information the extension handles
UTM Share handles the information needed to build and manage your links:
| Information | Purpose and storage |
|---|---|
| Destination URLs and page titles | Identify the page you are sharing and populate the destination field. URLs may include existing query parameters and fragments. |
| UTM values you enter | Generate links using utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term and utm_id. Current form settings are saved locally as you edit them, even before copying a link. |
| Preferences | Remember your selected channel, Simple or Advanced mode, and active-tab-following preference. |
| Campaign suggestions | Keep up to 30 recent, distinct campaign names locally for reuse. Suggestions are added when you generate and copy a link. |
| Copied-link history | Keep up to 25 recent, distinct generated URLs locally, together with the campaign name, selected channel, source and copy timestamp. |
| Temporary panel information | Pass the selected URL, title when available, tab/window references, request timestamp and a one-time request identifier between the toolbar, context menu and side panel. This uses session memory, not a remote server. |
The extension also reads the browser interface language to display Spanish or English. This does not use a translation service.
URLs, titles and form values can contain personal or confidential information. Local processing does not make that information anonymous. Avoid entering sensitive information into links or UTM fields.
2. When tab information is accessed
When you invoke UTM Share from the toolbar or its right-click menu, it uses the selected page or link to prepare your destination.
If you grant the optional tabs permission, the visible side panel can check the active tab in its own browser window. This supports automatic destination updates, the manual update button and notices that the page has changed.
Chrome grants this permission for tab metadata across browser tabs; the permission itself is not restricted to one website. UTM Share’s implementation uses it for the active-tab features described here, not to build a general browsing-history database. It does not continuously follow navigation when the panel is hidden or closed.
Turning off Follow active tab stops automatic destination replacement. It does not revoke tab access, and the visible panel can still check for changes to show the update notice. Select Remove tab access to revoke the optional permission. You can continue using manually pasted URLs without it.
3. Browser permissions
| Permission | Why UTM Share uses it |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Obtain temporary access to the current page’s URL and title after you invoke the extension. |
| storage | Save settings, campaign suggestions and copied links locally, and hold temporary panel information in session memory. |
| contextMenus | Add the right-click action for creating a tagged link from a page or selected link. |
| sidePanel | Display the extension beside the website you are viewing. |
| tabs – optional | Check current-tab addresses and titles for automatic updates, manual refresh and page-change notices. It is requested through a browser permission prompt. |
The extension does not request the browser history permission, broad website host permissions, or permissions to read cookies. It does not inject content scripts or read the body of the pages you visit.
When you choose to copy a link, UTM Share writes that link to your clipboard. It does not read or monitor clipboard contents. Text that you deliberately paste into the extension is processed as form input.
4. Local processing and network activity
Link generation takes place within the extension. Its code, icons, styles and translations are bundled with it. The extension does not use an external backend, analytics SDK, tracking pixel, fingerprinting service, advertising SDK or remote executable code.
Stored extension data uses chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session. UTM Share does not use chrome.storage.sync to synchronize this data through Chrome Sync, and it provides no cloud backup of your links.
Generating, previewing or copying a link does not send it to the destination website or to N-Shoke. The extension does not measure subsequent clicks, conversions or sales.
This does not prevent separate network activity when you deliberately open a website, share a link, contact us, or when the browser or extension store performs its own functions.
5. Data use and sharing
The information described above is used to provide the extension’s link-building, copying, campaign-reuse and navigation features. N-Shoke does not remotely receive or access your locally stored extension data, sell it, rent it, or provide it to advertising platforms or data brokers.
The N-Shoke credit link opens our website only when you click it. The extension does not attach your destination URL, UTM form values or saved history to that link. Visiting our website is a separate interaction and may involve the website’s own cookies and data handling.
When you paste or share a generated link in another application, that application and its recipients can see the link. When someone opens it, the destination website can receive its query parameters and process them under its own policies. UTM Share does not control those services.
Clipboard history, cross-device clipboard synchronization, device backups and browser/store services are controlled separately by your device, browser and service settings. Clearing extension data does not remove copies held by those systems or by recipients.
6. Retention and deletion
Preferences and current UTM form values remain in local extension storage until changed or removed. Saved campaign suggestions and copied-link history have the limits stated above; older entries are displaced when those limits are reached. There is no separate time-based expiry.
You can clear copied links using the history section’s clear action. Clearing link history does not delete saved campaign suggestions or current form settings.
Uninstalling UTM Share removes its local extension storage from that browser profile. Simply closing the panel does not delete it.
Temporary toolbar and context-menu information is kept in session memory. It is replaced by later requests for that window, removed when the associated window closes, and cleared when the browser session ends or the extension is disabled, reloaded or updated. Closing only the side panel is not a complete data-deletion action.
N-Shoke has no server-side copy of your local extension data to recover or delete remotely.
7. Security and Incognito windows
UTM Share minimizes external exposure by processing links locally and not uploading extension data. It does not add a separate encryption layer to its local storage. Protect access to your device and browser profile.
Do not use the extension as a secure place to store passwords, access tokens, private customer information, financial or health information, or confidential internal links. Existing URL parameters are preserved when generating links, so review the full destination before sharing it.
UTM Share 0.3.3 cannot be enabled in Incognito windows. Its manifest explicitly declares "incognito": "not_allowed". The extension therefore does not run its link-building or saving features in private windows. Additional code checks reject tabs marked as Incognito before creating a toolbar/context-menu hand-off or exposing their URL and title to active-tab following.
This restriction does not delete information saved by earlier versions. If you previously used a version in Incognito, review your locally saved data. Earlier records do not contain a reliable Incognito-origin flag, so this update does not try to identify or automatically delete them. The deletion controls and their limits are described in section 6.
A URL that you deliberately paste into UTM Share in a normal window is processed and saved according to the same rules as any other manually supplied link. The extension cannot infer that a pasted URL originated in a private session.
8. Limited Use commitment
UTM Share’s use of information obtained through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We restrict that use to the features disclosed in this policy. We do not use the information for personalized advertising, unrelated profiling or credit decisions, and we do not provide remote human access to locally stored extension data.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when changes to the extension affect the information it handles or how that information is used. The revision date and applicable version will be updated accordingly. Any additional browser permissions will be requested through the browser’s permission mechanisms where required.
